About the event
The 1st Annual Two-Spirit Summit is a day of connection, learning, and celebration centering Two-Spirit, IndigeQueer, and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ relatives. This full-day gathering will bring together community members, artists, cultural bearers, and knowledge keepers for a rich blend of workshops, cultural offerings, and a collective reflection.
The day will open with a grounding Opening Ceremony led by our community drum and elders, followed by an optional movement workshop designed for all abilities to help us get energized and connected.
Participants will then engage in a two-track workshop system, choosing from sessions that explore art, harm reduction through a Two-Spirit curanderx lens, mental health strategies for "Surviving the Storm" in today's political climate, and Afro/Black-Indigeneity. You'll attend two workshops before lunch, then enjoy a Food Sovereignty Teach-In during lunch that addresses the healthy aspects of traditional food and decolonizing your diet. The afternoon will feature the 3 remaining workshops.
